Drum pumps do not need to be confusing to select HOWEVER it does require application knowledge and an understanding of how the pump is being used.  The differences in the design goals of drum pumps will determine your results.

How often and how long is the pump going to be used ?  Will you be pumping out all of the 55 gallon drum at one time -- or just a few gallons ?  This will determine the pump's duty cycle to provide the best VALUE to you.

What is the solution's viscosity ?  Thin water line solutions (up to 400CP) can use centrifugal type impeller pumps but thicker medium viscosity solutions (400CP to 3500 CP) can probably use lifting screw type impellers.  The thickest solutions (30,00CP to 100,000CP) will require a progressive cavity type rotor (impeller).

What is the solution's Specific Gravity (how much does a gallon of the solution weight)?  This may put limits on the pump duty cycle.

Does the solution require explosion proof equipment ?  Gasoline or other flammable solvents ?  This will affect the pump and motor !

PF Series Drum Pumps are designed for long service life with the abilities to meet the most demanding applications.  The sealless design incorporates a double suction impeller that produces up to 40 GPM transfer rates. The pump tubes are furnished in a 40" length for 55 gallon drums as well as 27",  48", 60" and 72" lengths.  Polypro tube is also available in 15" length.

Ask about the new variable speed / voluble flow option.

Pfp.jpg (30113 bytes) The polypropylene material pump tube is supplied with a Inconel (high nickel alloy) shaft and TeflonŽ bearings. Internal O-rings are supplied in VitonŽ. The stainless steel material tube is 316SS shaft and HalarŽ impeller. Pumps have a 30 minute dry run time.

M3V - smallnew.gif (926 bytes) The new variable speed 1/2 HP - 115V motor is Drip Proof enclosure for most applications environments - The case is a molded plastic and incorporates a handle and rocker switch.  A thermal overload reset switch and 12' cord and plug are included. Use M5V for 230V.  Both feature new quick disconnect drive between the tube and motor. 
M3 - The standard 1/2 HP - 115V motor is Drip Proof enclosure for most applications environments - The case is a molded plastic and incorporates a handle and rocker switch.  A thermal overload reset switch and 12' cord and plug are included. Use M5 for 230V.
M3T - This 1/2 HP 115V motor is TEFC enclosure for more corrosive environments - The case is a molded plastic and incorporates a handle and rocker switch.  A thermal overload reset switch and 12' cord and plug are included. Use M5T for 230V.
M3X - This 1/10 HP 115V motor is Explosion Proof - Class I, Div. I, Group D - reduced flow applications.  Use M5X for 230V.
M6 - Air motor for pumping in non explosive environments
M6X - Air motor for pumping in explosion proof environments
M10X - Electric motor for explosion proof environments but not flammable liquids - 230V - full flow applications
